Summer Fair
Thank you so much for supporting our lovely summer fair organised by the Friends of Ravenswood. This year was our most successful year yet in that we managed to raise over £4000 - more than £1000 over what we’ve previously raised! The F.O.R are looking to invest this in something the children will really enjoy.
House Athletics:
Our Year 6 children have worked really hard this week to put on the annual House Athletics Challenge. All children competed to earn points for their house groups, which will be added to the totals achieved across the year so far. Which house will win the House Athletics Challenge? Will these points make any difference to which house wins the end of year title of ‘Ultimate Champions’? We shall see!
Scottish opera:
On Wednesday this week, our Year four children performed in ‘Tam O’ Shanter’ delivered by Scottish Opera. This is a particular highlight in the Year 4 calendar. Thank you to all parents who came to watch such fantastic performances and of course to the talented children for learning so many words.
Reports
Children’s reports will be coming home today. We’ve changed our report format this year and we hope that you like it. Information will also include which class the children will be going into next year. Please read the further information below about transition.
Next week:
Monday – KS1 Sports Day
We aim to start Key Stage 1 sports day on Monday morning at 9:10am. Children will need to go into class as usual to register and put bags away before coming back outside with teachers. Parents who would like to watch can wait on the KS1 yard.
The children will be rotating activities in classes as follows:
There will be areas for parents to watch their children. We encourage you to cheer and support all children but ask that you please stay in the ‘parent watching’ areas so that we can make sure the children get to the right areas and staff know where the classes are. At the end, children will make their way back into school and we’ll ask parents to leave via the KS1 gate exit.
Note: If there is very bad weather and we need to cancel sports day, we will message parents on the Ravenswood app and post on social media by 8:15 am. Please don’t call the office to ask on the morning.
KS2 Sports Day
We will be opening the KS1 gates for parents to come to watch KS2 sports day at 1:10pm.
Sports day will start on the main KS2 field at 1:15 p.m. All of the children will bring chairs out onto the main field – indicated by the green line on the picture below:
There will be a perimeter marked around the edge of the field for parents to watch. We encourage you to cheer on and support all children but ask that you please don’t cross the marked areas so that we can make sure the children have the space to compete and teachers can organise which children are taking part in events. At the end at approximately 2:45 p.m, the children will make their way back into school and will be released at the usual home time.
Note: In the event that we need to cancel Sports Day due to inclement weather, we will notify parents via the Ravenswood app and our social media channels by 12:00 pm. We kindly ask parents not to call the office to ask, as we need to keep the phone lines open for other important calls.
Transition week
This year, we are going to trial three days of transition so that the children can get to know their new teachers, classrooms and to start to learn the new routines. We’re hoping this will support the children with what to expect in September.
On Wednesday 9th July, children will come to school as normal and will leave at the end of the day from their usual exit. During the day, they will move to their new classroom to meet their new teacher. The teachers will go over where to put packed lunches, where to line up in the mornings and which door they’ll be collected from at the end of the day.
On Thursday 10th and Friday 11th July, children will come to school and meet their new teacher in their new line on the yard when the bell goes at the start of the day.
We have emailed this information across to clowning around.
