04.10.24 Newsletter

I wanted to pass on a thank you to all the staff who gave up their time to support the children this week at Borrowdale. The children had a fantastic time – if you haven’t had a chance to see all of the brilliant pictures, please have a look on Instagram or Facebook – ‘Ravenswood Primary School’

Book Look

Next week we have an opportunity for parents to come to school for a ‘book look’ to review the work that children have been completing so far in school ahead of our upcoming parent evenings. I’m really sorry that we’ve not given more advanced notice on the times of these and will make sure that we have more advanced notice for future events.

The book looks will be on at 2:45 to 3:15 on the following days:

If you would like to sign up, please do so via our school app or contact the office.

Harvest festival KS1

Father Jonathan is coming to school on Tuesday morning to lead a harvest festival assembly for the children in Key Stage 1. Alongside this, we are collecting donations for the people’s kitchen. We will be collecting donations until the end of next week if any parents would like to send donations in with their children.

Swiftie’s

I’ve been very lucky in that I’ve been able to work with all of the year groups and classes this week and learning some songs. I didn’t realise we had such a big Taylor Swift fanbase in school. I will be looking to start a school choir club soon. This week we learned ‘Shake it off’ – your children are fantastic singers!

School contacts

I try to make sure that (unless I’m in a meeting) I’m out on the school yard each morning to speak to any parents that would like to discuss anything, as does Mrs. Mason and the rest of the school staff. However, I understand that a lot of parents aren’t able to speak at this time due to working/other commitments and therefore need to email. If you would like to contact school via email, could we please ask that you email the school office: office@ravenswoodprimary.co.uk or (if you have a SEND concern/need to get in touch with the school SENDCo) sendco@ravenswoodprimary.co.uk rather than emailing a school staff member directly.

School uniform

The Friends of Ravenswood (FOR) will be displaying free spare school uniform on the yard on Monday morning if any parents would like to have a look through. If anyone would like to consider joining the FOR please visit their website or have a chat with them on Monday morning.

School vacancy

We are currently looking to recruit a new school caretaker (facilities manager). A position has been advertised on North East Jobs - Facility Supervisor (Ravenswood Primary School) - Newcastle City Council - North East Jobs - this will be readvertised. Further information on this is available on the North East Jobs website.
