At Ravenswood we shared a wonderful world book day. The children dressed in colours for their favourite characters – we even spotted a Lorax and a Wookie amongst the staff. Thank you very much to parents who were able to come into school to share activities with children. There were so many fun things happening. From Potato characters to campfires, book marks to character hunts:

We hope that you also enjoyed an opportunity to come into school on Tuesday or Thursday to review the fantastic work that your children have been completing ahead of parents evening next Tuesday and Wednesday. All in all giving parents a chance to review children’s work, take part in an activity in school and then meet with teachers individually to discuss your children’s progress.
Masked Reader:
As part of World Book Day, our staff read extracts from famous stories while in disguise. Listen carefully and see if you can guess which staff member is reading and which story it’s from:
Goodbye Chicks

It has been wonderful to watch our chicks hatch and grow. The children have enjoyed visiting them and observing their progress over the past few days. In total, all seven chicks successfully hatched.
The smallest chick, which was also the last to hatch, arrived quite late and needed a little extra help from Miss Williams. We’re delighted to say that it is now doing really well. Children in her class have even been weighing the chick regularly to track its growth.
The chicks will now return to the farm, where they will continue to be cared for as they grow and receive any medical attention they need. After the Easter holidays, we hope to welcome four of the female chickens back to Ravenswood, where they will live in their new home at school.
A huge thank you to the Friends of Ravenswood for providing this fantastic opportunity for the children.
Ravenswood Football
Mr Chapman reported that the Under 10 girls’ football team proudly represented Ravenswood on Wednesday evening as they took part in the Tony Knox Cup at Walker Riverside Academy, delivering a fantastic performance.
In support of World Down Syndrome Day, on Friday 20th March children are invited to come to school wearing odd socks.
Wearing odd socks is a fun way to celebrate what makes us all unique and to help raise awareness of Down syndrome. We look forward to seeing lots of bright and colourful socks!
