Eid Mubarak!

We would like to wish all our families celebrating a very joyful and peaceful Eid! Eid is a special time for many in our school community, marked by prayer, gratitude, giving, and spending time with loved ones. We hope everyone celebrating has a wonderful day filled with happiness, laughter, and delicious food. Eid Mubarak from all of us at Ravenswood Primary.

We have a lot of things happening at Ravenswood next week! Across the week, our year 4 children will be completing their online multiplication check and year 1 pupils will be completing their phonics check.

On Monday at 5pm we invite new nursery parents to school for a welcome meeting. This will take place in the Key Stage 1 hall. If you are attending, please enter the school via the main entrance.

On Wednesday beginning at 1:30pm we have our special Great Get Together

Parents, family and friends of all children at Ravenswood are once again invited to our annual Great Get Together picnic on Wednesday 11th of June beginning at 1:30. As usual, the picnic will take place on the school field and children will be welcome to come in traditional cultural dress on that day. Please bring food, refreshments, etc to enjoy this wonderful event.

After their lunch and registration, classes will come out to the main playground and leave their coats and bags at a numbered cone. They will then come to sit in rows facing the school hall (in the green box above) ready to listen to the school band. The school gates will open at 1:30 for parents to join in the red area. After this has finished, the teachers will take classes back to their lines to get their coats and bags. We will then ask parents to collect children from their lines so that we can mark them off the register. Please bear with us while we take children to their lines – this is so that we can safely make sure that all children are handed over to their parents. Once children have been handed across to parents, please find a space and enjoy a big picnic together.

The school gates will be open for parents from 1:30 – 1:45 and they will then open again at 2:30pm. Parents and families will then be able to take children home from this time onwards if they wish.

We will encourage all children to have used the toilet before going outside. However, if they need to use the toilet, the only doors open will be:

Staff members will be on the doors to support children who need it. For safeguarding purposes, parents won’t be allowed into school.

If during the event there is a sudden downpour of rain, the school gates will be opened and parents will be able to take the children who are with them, home. Teachers will bring children who haven’t been collected back inside.

To help the teachers know who will be visiting, complete the form on the Ravenswood App.

Because there isn’t space inside the school building to safely have all parents inside, if on the morning the weather is really bad and the school field is waterlogged, we will have to cancel the event and will let parents know via the Ravenswood App.

Non-Uniform Day

On Friday 13th June – we have a Friends Of Ravenswood non-uniform day and will be asking children to bring in chocolate or bottles (alcohol or unused toiletries). These can be brought to the main office or sent to  your child’s class. They’ll be safely locked away in preparation for our upcoming Summer fair on  Friday 27th June – starting at 2pm

Outdoor area

We’ve managed to secure funding from the local authority to develop the outdoor space next to our Sensory space (the ‘Nest’) so that we can provide the children with another outdoor play area. This will be built on the semi-circle grass area outside the Nest in the main car park. The project is starting on Monday next week and will last until the beginning of July. There will be a lot of heavy traffic using the car park during this time and we ask parents to please use the pedestrian paths into and out of school.
