Exciting Early Years visits
This week our nursery children had a very exciting day at Whitehouse Farm, where the children were able to see baby lambs, enjoy a tractor ride they held animals including mice, bunnies and even a cockroach! They have been given a very heavy Emu egg which stands in pride of place on a 3D printed stand (thanks Mr Holmes!).
Class 1 also had a visit to Scotswood gardens where they had a chance to hunt for real minibeasts, make clay models of insects and explore the lovely outdoor areas. A huge thank you to all of the parent helpers that supported these visits. Class 2 and class 3 are looking forward to their visits next week.
SATs week
On Monday to Thursday next week, the year 6 children have their SATs. The children have worked so hard this year, putting in a lot of effort and everyone is school is very proud. Please ensure your children arrive in school on time so that we can help them to be as prepared as possible.
We know that SATs are important and we want the children to try their best. Our year 6 team have worked hard to get the balance right between supporting and encouraging the children to fulfil their potential but not to put too much pressure on them. We know that SATs don’t tell the full story of who our children are. They don’t show how kind, creative, funny or thoughtful they are and how much they brighten up the school just by being in it. We will be reminding all of our children to do their best but also that no matter the results, they are valued, brilliant and have so much to be proud of.
School door & Car park
We’ve updated our school main entrance and car park gate system. From Monday, to get into the main school entrance, parents and visitors will need to press the metal button to gain entry:
We’ve also had automatic gates installed on the school car park. The gates will close on a timer at 8:30 and will only be able to be accessed via a staff fob. The gates will stay closed for the remainder of the school day. We ask that parents continue to use the pedestrian gate when coming in and out of school.
