Book Look
Thank you very much for coming along to the school book look ahead of Parents evening next week. It was lovely to see so many parents come into school (despite poor weather) to have a look at their children’s learning. However, after reviewing this process, I noticed that some of the children (particularly younger children) were unsettled at saying goodbye to parents at the end of the session and returning to class. It also meant that parents had to wait for longer outside in bad weather to then collect their children and I’d like to propose an alternative opportunity moving forward.
The 11th 12th 13th March were sent out to parents as book look days for the second half of the year. As an alternative, I’d like to offer parents the opportunity to collect their children at the end of school and come into classrooms to look at children’s books in the rooms that they work in – opening classrooms up for half an hour for children to show you the brilliant work they’ve been completing. This way, children wouldn’t need to be separated from parents at the end, people could leave freely, this would be at the usual school pick up time so more parents might be able to attend and get to see the children’s learning environments.
This will be for years 1 to 6. We will put this on two days so that parents have a choice of dates and to reduce classrooms being too busy:
Tuesday 11th March & Thursday 13th March
Parents Evening
Parent evenings next week are being held on Tuesday and Wednesday – appointments will have been made via the school app. Please arrive and leave via main office. Staff will be in the hall. Nursery to class 9 in the first hall, Class 10 to 21 in the far hall. Please try to arrive on time for your appointment, our teachers will do their best to ensure they keep to the timings given. We look forward to seeing you all. Please note that the booking system will close at 9am on Monday morning.
Lunchtimes
I’ve been working with the lunchtime supervisors and Mr Daley. We’ve been looking at ways that we can improve outdoor play for children. From Monday we will have designated large areas of our school grounds for different year groups. This will give children more space to play and enjoy areas with children their age. Our lunchtime supervisors are also going to be wearing high visibility jackets so that children can easily see any adults when they need support. We’ve also increased the number of adults available to support during lunchtimes. I’m hoping that these steps will help to reduce incidents and help children to have lots of fun and be ready for learning in the afternoons.
The Northern Lights
Miss Lowther managed to take a brilliant photo of the Northern Lights above our school last night. We hope you got a chance to see them.
