Borrowdale Residential

Many of our Year 6 children had a fantastic experience this week during their residential trip to Borrowdale. They took part in a range of exciting activities, including ghyll scrambling, canoeing on Derwent Water, rock climbing, and, as pictured, climbing Castle Crag. A huge thank you to the staff team who gave up their time to support the children on this residential. The children have told us we’re not to ask about “salt and pepper” though! There are other pictures on our social media pages.
Wednesday 17th June - The Great Get Together – 1:30pm
Parents, family and friends of all children at Ravenswood are once again invited to our annual Great Get Together picnic on Wednesday 17th of June beginning at 1:30. As usual, the picnic will take place on the school field and children will be welcome to come in traditional cultural dress on that day. Please bring food, refreshments, etc to enjoy this wonderful event.

After their lunch and registration, classes will come out to the main playground and leave their coats and bags at a numbered cones. They will then come to sit in rows facing the school hall (in the green box above). The school gates will open at 1:30 for parents to join in the red area. We’re going to sing a song altogether and then Mr Jamieson will make his annual speech.
After this has finished, the teachers will take classes back to their lines to get their coats and bags. We will then ask parents to collect children from their lines so that we can mark them off the register (please bear with us while we take children to their lines – this is so that we can safely make sure that all children are handed over to their parents.
Once children have been handed across to parents, please find a space and enjoy a big picnic together.
The school gates will be open for parents from 1:30 – 1:45 and they will then open again at 2:30pm (parents and families will then be able to take children home from this time onwards).
We will encourage all children to have used the toilet before going outside. However, if they need to use the toilet, the only doors open will be:

There will be staff members on the doors to support children that need it. For safeguarding purposes, parents won’t be allowed into school.
If during the event there is a heavy downpour of rain, then the school gates will be opened and parents will be able to take the children that are with them home. Teachers will bring children that haven’t been collected back inside.
To help teachers know who will be visiting, please let school know by completing the form on the Ravenswood App.
Because there isn’t space inside the school building to safely have all parents inside, if on the morning the weather is really bad and the school field is waterlogged, we will have to cancel the event and will let parents know via the Ravenswood App.
Shakespeare Festival

On Thursday next week, Ravenswood children will be starring in what promises to be a thrilling adaptation of King Lear at the people’s theatre. The performance starts at 7pm. If you’re lucky tickets might still be available. We look forward to seeing you there.
Non-uniform Day

On Friday – we have a Friends Of Ravenswood non-uniform day and will be asking children to bring in chocolate or bottles (alcohol or unused toiletries) these can be brought to the main office or sent to classes. These will then be safely locked away in preparation for our upcoming Summer fair – Friday 3rd July – starting at 2pm
