End of Half Term
We have reached the end of a short but incredibly busy and eventful half term. There have been so many memorable experiences for our children, including welcoming chickens onto the school grounds, watching ducklings hatch in Nursery, supporting our Year 6 pupils through their SATs, and enjoying a range of visits and trips such as Beamish, Whickham Thorns and Scotswood Garden, to name just a few.
We hope you all have a restful and enjoyable half term break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for our final half term, beginning on Monday 1st June. Please see the end of this newsletter for a list of important upcoming dates.
Nurse visit

Children in Class 7 enjoyed a visit from local nurses this week. They learned all about where nurses work, what their roles involve, and how nursing has changed throughout history. A huge thank you to our visitors for sharing their time and expertise.
Beautiful Poem
I was over the moon this week to get a visit from a year 3 child (8 years old) who had written a phenomenal poem (much better than I could produce) after studying rivers. It very much cheered me up and I think it’s worth sharing:

I am a long bubbling beast streaming from high mountains.
I am a blue winding snake following the track.
I race down huge hill sides cutting through the undergrowth.
My singing can put you to sleep.
My foam covers the slippy rocks in the twilight.
I make a rushing path to a huge waterfall.
I make shapes of threads through the countryside.
Finally I am swallowed by the big mouth of the sea.
Children’s Cancer Run

A big thank you to all members of the Ravenswood community who took part in the Children’s Cancer Run last weekend. It was a wonderful event, and the children represented our school brilliantly.
Money Snake Reward

Congratulations to Class 20, who won the Money Snake challenge with the longest line of coins and enjoyed a well-earned visit from the ice cream van!
The Friends of Ravenswood have counted all the donations, and we are delighted to share that an amazing £958.97 was raised. Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported this initiative.
PAN & Parent Governor information
All parents should have received further information today directly from the school regarding the school PAN application and a parent governor vacancy. If you haven’t received this information, please contact the school office.
Reminder to Pupils and Parents
Please ensure that children are not using the EYFS bikes, scooters or other outdoor equipment before or after school. Recently, we have seen equipment being used outside of school time and then left around the playground, which creates a potential trip hazard and makes it harder for us to keep the area tidy and safe. We would really appreciate your support in reminding children that this equipment should only be used during supervised school sessions, so that we can maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
