Book Look

On Tuesday (30th) and Thursday (1st) after school next week, we’re opening our classroom to parents to look through your children’s books and see some of the great work they’ve been doing ahead of our parents evening the following week. This is for children in Year 1 to Year 6.
To help make sure that all children have been collected safely, we’ll be asking parents to collect children and then take them to either the car park entrance (which will open at 3:15) or the main entrance (which will open at 3:20) to come back into school and go to classrooms.
Key Stage 2 classrooms will be open from 3.15 to 3.45 and Key Stage 1 classrooms will be open from 3.20 to 3.50.
Reception parents – phonics meeting

On Wednesday 1st October next week we have two sessions for parents in reception to learn more about phonics. We have one session at 9am and another at 5:30pm – both sessions should last around 30 minutes. There’s no need to sign up to this, just turn up on the day - We’re looking forward to seeing you.
School of Sanctuary Award!

Back in 2014, Lord Nash explained the importance of teaching British Values in schools, saying: “A key part of our plan for education is to ensure children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background.”
At Ravenswood Primary School, we believe that ‘Relationships Promote Success’. We aim to create a safe and welcoming place where every child feels valued no matter their background, beliefs, or faith. Our children build friendships, learn to respect one another and grow together.
We're very proud that this week, Ravenswood has earned the School of Sanctuary status. Showing that our school has demonstrated going 'above and beyond to build a safer school community’.
Friends of Ravenswood (FOR)

The annual meeting for the FOR was held last night. As a school we’re so lucky to have such a supportive team of volunteers who spend lots of time organising fun events and helping to raise money for brilliant things (such as the upcoming pirate ship) for our children. They’ve started to plan exciting things for this year including the winter fair next term. We need to mention a special thank you to Ramzi Adcock who has been the treasurer for the FOR for 10 years making a vital contribution that everyone is grateful for. The FOR are always welcome to other parents who might be able to contribute to our school community and if anyone is interested, please email: info@friendsofravenswood.co.uk for more information.
The FOR have asked parents to please complete the attached questionnaire:

Parents evening
A reminder that we have Parents Evening on 7th and 8th October. Lots of parents have successfully booked appointments using our school app. If you haven’t yet booked, there’s a tab called ‘parents evening’ on the school app to make an appointment with your child’s teacher.
At parents evening, we will also have staff from the local authority Social Emotion Mental Health team (SEMH) available to talk to parents:
“Hello! We are the SEHM team from the Local Authority. Our role is to support schools to support children with coping skills, resilience and to help them feel connected to themselves, others and the natural world. We are looking forward to attending the upcoming parents evening, we will have some resources to share linked to supporting transitions into school in the morning and regulation activities. -SEMH East Team”
