Refugee Week

Thank you to Mrs Carr for organising a brilliant Refugee week in school. Classes across school took part in lots of activities this week and our young interpreters had a fantastic trip to Scotswood Gardens, taking part in the School of Sanctuary Welcome programme.

Shakespeare Festival

What an incredible privilege it was to watch our Ravenswood thespian superstars shine on a professional stage at the People's Theatre last night! Their talent, confidence, and passion lit up the room, and I’m sure everyone in the audience would agree — the performance was truly outstanding.
Thank you very much to Mr Chapman for organising and for everyone who came along to support the children.

The Big Gig Sing

Mrs Maddison is leading our school choir today to travel to the Vertu Motors arena to sing our hearts out to some super 70’s classics. We hope those of you who join us will enjoy singing along!

Support staff position

Please note that the closing date for our support staff position is Monday if you were considering making an application.

Weds 25th June - Nursery Sports Day – At 1pm, we’ll open the school gates for nursery parents to join us.

Friday 27th June - Summer fair – 2pm start

As mentioned on previous newsletters, this year the school summer fair will begin at the earlier time of 2.00pm. This earlier start time means that the children who will run the stalls, the many volunteers who help organise and run the event and school staff will not need to stay behind too late on a Friday evening to clear up the event once finished. It also helps to stagger the fair, reducing how busy it initially is.

Parents will be able to collect their children from their usual home time pick-up points at 2.00pm. Parts of the fair will be set up on the Key Stage 2 yard and we ask that parents don’t allow children to go on the school fair stalls/equipment initially till we have officially opened. Parents who pick up here will need to leave the yard and then re-enter school through the main office.

Parents can then queue at the main entrance to enter the fair (£1 per adult entry – to help speed up entrance, please have change ready) at 2:15pm .

Parents who are unable to collect at 2.00pm will need to collect their children at the usual school time from the Key Stage 1 Hall. Clowning Around will also be collecting children from this hall at the end of the day if needed.

*note nursery children that are staying until the usual school time will remain in nursery and will need to be collected from here.

Information about this has been sent to parents via the school app – please make sure you have indicated whether you will be collecting children at the earlier time so that we can be organised on the day and have children in the right place.

Safer streets:

To help make journeys to and from school safer for children, Ravenswood Primary School, along with some other school in Newcastle and the Ouseburn Learning Trust got involved with the Newcastle City Council scheme ‘safer streets’.

This is a reminder to parents to not use these roads between 8 -9.30am and 2:30 and 4pm to keep children’s journeys to school safe. If you would like more information or would like to get in touch with the council about this, please visit the website below:
