School Vision

School vision: The five trees of

By the time children leave Ravenswood, we aim for them to be resilient and healthy, demonstrating respect for all, a love for learning, and having experienced opportunities to inspire their passions and discover what makes them special.

These key elements of the school vision are represented by five trees which are also the school house teams. When children join Ravenswood they are placed into one of the houses. Children learn about the five trees in assemblies and receive awards/certificates which link to how they’ve achieved elements of the school vision. They also collect house points which build up to different levels of acknowledgement eg. Bronze, silver, gold etc.

We want children to be excited and curious about their learning and to experience challenge to help them reach their full potential. We aim to develop strong skills in reading, writing and mathematics in every child as the foundation for successful learning.  We believe that our curriculum should promote curiosity and a thirst for lifelong learning.

We want our children to be respectful, kind and empathetic towards others and themselves. We want children to be open-minded and appreciate a range of views, different beliefs, value diversity and act with integrity. We aim to help them to understand how to support those they interact with as well as the changing environment in which they live. Foremost, we want our children to leave us knowing just how important relationships are in promoting success.

Our aim is for children to be physically active, mentally healthy and emotionally resilient.  We want them to find moments of happiness each day whilst also understanding it’s also natural to feel sadness. As they leave, our children should have the skills and strength as well-rounded individuals to face life’s challenges with confidence.

We want our children to embrace challenges with resilience and determination. We aim to support children to understand that when moments get tough, hard work and perseverance can change difficulties into opportunities. We hope that by supporting children to be positive about themselves, that they have the confidence and strength to take risks, be aspirational and succeed in their future.

We want to enthuse our children and build their self-confidence by discovering their unique talents and interests, to embrace who they are and what excites them, whether that’s music, art, sport, technology or any other talent. We hope to inspire them, set ambitious goals, celebrate their achievements and believe in their potential to achieve great things.
