Week beginning 11th December 2023
What a great show week. Thanks to everyone who came along; I hope you enjoyed the show as much as the children enjoyed performing for you.
We also managed to squeeze in two sports events this week. Our Panathletics Team went to The Parks on Wednesday to run, jump and throw against eight other schools. They were brilliant and won the competition with a massive 1001 points, over 100 more than the second placed school. Well done.
The football team were out on Wednesday after school playing local rivals St Theresa’s in the Bob Maddison Cup (no relation!). They won 7-0 with four goals from Max and a great performance from Jack in goal. They move on to the next round full of confidence. Well done.
On Tuesday, we had a visit from researchers from Loughborough University, who are evaluating the School Streets project. They wanted me to thank everyone who had completed the parent survey. While they were here, they interviewed myself, one of our governors and two groups of children. They were really impressed with the children, who gave some great answers and had very strong opinions.
Can I thank everyone for your kind donations on last Friday’s non-school uniform day? As you know, we were collecting for St Oswald’s Hospice, who looked after our friend and colleague, Thierry Wijns. You helped us to raise a fantastic £600.
Again, just to remind you about the organisation for the final week of term. This is party week and the parties are as follows.
- N Monday 18th December and Friday 22nd December
- R Thursday 21st December
- Y1 Wednesday 20th December
- Y2 Tuesday 19th December
- Y3 Thursday 21st December
- Y4 Tuesday 19th December
- Y5 Wednesday 20th December
- Y6 Monday 18th December
We also have two whole school events.
We will be holding our school Christmas Celebration at St Gabriel’s for the whole school on Tuesday 19th December at 5pm. This is a lovely event with some Christmas songs and carols, readings from the children and performances from both of our choirs and the school band. It is another chance for the Ravenswood Family to come together and celebrate, so I hope you can all make it.
Christmas Dinner is on Wednesday 20th December. Children can wear Christmas jumpers (or their favourite jumper) on this day if they wish to. You will need to let us know whether your child is having Christmas dinner on the Monday of the final week.
