Week beginning 16th October 2023
Thanks to everyone who came along to the parent consultations this week; it was lovely to see you all. I hope you enjoyed meeting your child’s teacher and finding out about how well your child is doing.
We have had a dramatic week in school, with our annual visit with Mark from Konflux Theatre. He spends the day with each class and takes them through the story of one of Shakespeare’s plays, which they then perform for the rest of the year group. This year, Class 16 gave us a very romantic Romeo and Juliet, Class 17 performed a hilarious Midsummer Night’s Dream and Class 18 gave us a murderous Macbeth (with a few laughs thrown in!) The children had a fabulous time and all of them got really involved in their play. Thanks to Mark and the class teachers. We have booked again for next year.
On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 1 classes visited Father Jonathan at St Gabriel’s Church to find out about baptism as part of their RE curriculum. They had a lovely time and were very well behaved. Thanks to Father Jonathan for inviting us along.
On Friday, we welcomed Tim and Jane from St Gabriel’s Church to Year 1 and Year 2’s assembly. They are setting up a new choir for young children, which will take place after school on Thursdays. The children enjoyed the assembly and we have sent information out to families so that you can consider this opportunity.
Next week, we will be holding our harvest assemblies across the school. Thanks to everyone who has already sent in donations for The People’s Kitchen. There is still time to send things in if you want to. They would love the normal dried foods or tinned foods. These can be sent in to school with your child or dropped off at the main office any time over the next week.
Next Wednesday, we will be joined by the school photographer who will take individual and family photographs in time for Christmas. The hair salons of Heaton will be busy on Tuesday night!!
Next Friday, we break up for half term. Please note that we will also be closed on Monday 6th November for staff training and children will return to school on Tuesday 7th November.
