Week beginning 27th June 2022
We are delighted to announce that we have once again achieved the School Games PLATINUM Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
We were awarded the GOLD award on our first application in 2014 and continued to receive this award for the following 5 years. Schools who have achieved five GOLD awards can then apply for the PLATINUM award, which we achieved in 2019. We maintained this award through the pandemic, but this year have again had to prove that PE and school sport is still a priority at Ravenswood. Regular readers of the blog will know that it is and we received notification yesterday of our 2022 PLATINUM award.
I am delighted and want to pay tribute to the amazing staff of Ravenswood, who deliver many hours of physical activity, both in school and as extra-curricular opportunities, to our children. I also want to thank the pupils for their commitment to PE and sport. If they didn’t take part then this award would be impossible to achieve. And finally, I want to thank our families for encouraging their children, supporting their achievements and agreeing to us taking them here, there and everywhere in the name of sport!
Thanks to everyone who came to the Great Get Together last week. Here are a few of the promised photos.
Thanks to the parents who came to the In the Loop meeting on Tuesday morning. It was lovely to see them and talk through a very busy term. We also looked at the results of the parent questionnaire. These results were very encouraging. We intend to do some extra work next year on how we better inform families about what the children are learning in school and how they can help at home. We have invested in a new communication system for next year from a company called Weduc. They are busy creating our very own Ravenswood app which will replace the School Comms and the Gateway payment systems. This app will also allow us to share work in school and will have all of the links to websites that we use, such as Tapestry and Oxford Owl. More information will be winging its way to you from the school office in the near future.
The girls’ football team had three competitions in a week this week. They worked incredibly hard and in Thursday’s competition lost the final on penalties to a “sudden death” goal. Well done to all of the girls and I hope they are looking forward to the start of the Euros next week.
I am writing this before the School Fair on Friday after school. I have my fingers crossed for another rain-free event. Thanks to everyone who came along and spent some money. I will have some photos in next week’s blog.
