Ravenswood Primary School

Ravenswood Primary School

Week beginning 29th April 2024

This is going to be a very short blog, as I have been off all week with some sort of virus.

Mrs Mason and Mrs Maddison have been keeping me up to date and making sure that everything is running smoothly in my absence. Huge thanks to them and all of our fabulous staff.

Year 3 have started their next block of swimming lessons, which carry on next week.

Nursery have been on visits to Byker Farm all week. Looking at the photos, they seem to have had a lovely time. Thanks to our Nursery team and to all of the volunteers who made this trip possible and of course, to the staff at the farm for all of their help.

On Tuesday, our friends from St Gabriel’s Church came in to Year 3 and Year 4’s assembly to share another story from the Open the Book series. This is a lovely opportunity for the children to hear some of the stories from the Bible and also to interact with friends from our community. Thanks to the team for their hard work in preparing and delivering these assemblies.

The U10 Girls' Football Team were outstanding on Thursday evening in the Tony Knox Cup. They won their group convincingly, scoring 12 goals in 3 games, conceding only once. That meant they were into the semi-final which, again, they won - this time 2-0. The final was an extremely close match that finished 1-1 at full time. Penalties ultimately decided the winner and Ravenswood were unlucky to see their fourth penalty saved meaning that they finished runners up to winners St. Charles. All of the girls were outstanding on the night, special mentions to Aaliyah who tore every defence apart, Dot who was imperious in midfield and Evie who played with composure and authority on the ball. The future is bright for girls' football!

Finally, a couple of reminders:

Monday 6th May is a Bank Holiday and Friday 24th May is a training day, so Ravenswood will be closed on both of these days.

Please do not use the school car park to drop off or pick up pupils. This is a thoroughfare for families arriving and leaving school at this time.
